Researching a Perfomance Music Video

I decided to analyse 'Best Of You' by Foo Fighters because it is a good example of a performance music video. There are many location changes in this music video (around 20+). This so that the viewer does not lose interest. There are two costume changes in this clip, this may be because the band are only shown in two locations. I have found that in music videos continuity editing is broken regularly, this may because it is jarring so keeps the attention of the viewer and to give of an eerie atmosphere, there is also constant camera movement. For example, we see in this clip that it cuts from close up of an object to that same object from the same angle just in a medium close up.

There are also shots like zooms, tracks, extreme close ups etc.The lead singer is always framed to the left of the shot. The band is introduced one by on (creates a narrative with the band), always cutting back to the lead singer in-between to show his importance to the band. The Mise-en-scene is used to help create emotion for example it cuts to the lead singer in a dark room, light using low key lighting.
